Farmers Markets

Hey folks, hope your fresh and healthy searches are bearing fruit ;) Today, I just want highlight the benefits of Farmers' Market.

The objective of Farmers' Market are to:

  • Link farmers directly to consumers
  • Make fresh produce available and more affordable to the consumers.
Now, you may be asking, what are the benefits we are going to receive. Well, you will be entitled to fresher, more wholesome produce, clean surroundings (and I know you love clean surroundings), parking and security. Impressed and happy, are you not.

Ok, so we are getting all these benefits but am I going to find what I'm looking for at a Farmes Market? Well, once your looking for fresh, wholesome produce, you will definitely find what you seek. There are:
  • Fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Pulses (Split Peas, Channa, Lentil, etc.)
  • Chilled Chicken
  • Seedlings
  • Local Craft Items
Yes folks, there are some inedible items on sale but I'm sure they will be of interest to you. Craft items that will make lovely decorations for your home or on your person and you will have that warm fuzzy feeling of supporting your local cottage industry as well.

Now, if your on the hunt for Farmers' Markets, let me help you out. You can find them at the following locations at the identified times:
  • Macoya - Northern Wholesale Market - Sunday 6:00am to 12:00pm
  • Debe - Southern Wholesale Market, S.S. Erin Rd - Sunday 6:00am to 12:00pm
  • Chaguanas - Old Ministry of Works Compound, Main Rd - Saturday 1:00pm to 6:00pm and Sundays 6:00am to 12:00pm.
  • Diego Martin - Intersection of Diego Martin Main Rd. and St. Lucien Rd. - Saturday 6:00am to 12:00pm.
So visit a Farmers' Market nearest to you. Enjoy the ambiance and take in the freshness. I'm sure you find yourself visiting time and time again. Some tips, get to know some farmers and do get there early, trust me. I have put some photos below to entice you.
